| Ivonne Trias Hernandez is a journalist and director of weekly Brecha, the only Latin-American media outlet without patronage and that elects its board of directors through a vote of the editorial staff. She was a political prisoner during the military dictatorship in Uruguay (1973-1985), then elected municipal council member for the Frente Amplio in Montevideo. She is currently the deputy director of international organisation Latin Union, in Montevideo, and a founding member of several press outlets in her country. |  |
